May 1st, 2nd & 3rd, 2015 Participating Wineries

The Rutherford Appellation Winery Group is comprised of many winery members, but due to seasonal events, not all wineries are able to participate in each Wine Experience option.

Each Rutherford Wine Experience participant has an icon on the right side of the winery information page.  This icon notes a participating winery.

Proceeds from the Rutherford Wine Experience event benefit a local Napa Valley Charity.  Last years' event funds were donated to the Rutherford Grange which was built in 1914 and currently being restored and renovated so that it can serve our Rutherford community for the next 100 years.

Inglenook

Inglenook

The Inglenook legacy began in 1879 when Gustave Niebaum, a Finnish sea captain, wine connoisseur and entrepreneur, came to Rutherford to build a wine estate that would rival Europe’s finest. When Niebaum’s grandnephew, John Daniel, Jr. inherited the chateau and vineyards in the 1930s, Inglenook had already earned international acclaim. Francis and Eleanor Coppola purchased the property in 1975 and have spent forty years reuniting the original vineyards, returning winemaking operations to the chateau, and restoring Inglenook’s illustrious heritage with the help of renowned wine consultant Stéphane Derenoncourt and Managing Director and Winemaker Philippe Bascaules. In honor of this estate and its historical significance, we have restored the name, Inglenook.

S.R. Tonella Cellars

S.R. Tonella Cellars

S. R. Tonella Cellars is the culmination of over 100 continuous years in the wine business in Rutherford, Napa Valley. It all started with an earthquake. In 1906 after the great San Francisco earthquake, a huge demand for workers to rebuild the city brought Joseph Ponti, Steve’s great uncle, from Italy to San Francisco. Shortly thereafter, Ponti became the superintendent and initial winemaker at the iconic Beaulieu Vineyards in Rutherford, where he stayed for 43 years. Ponti’s nephew, Steve’s grandfather, Louis Tonella, joined his uncle at Beaulieu when he was just 17 and worked there for several years. Louis inherited from Ponti vineyards located in the Rutherford viticulture region and passed them on to his son Raymond Tonella, Steve’s father. Over the years, Raymond purchased additional vineyard acreage, as well as managing other Rutherford vineyards. Grape growing and wine production have been a part of Steve’s life and family history.
